September 2
I have a new blog site. I am going to try to figure out how to make it just appear on this page but for now click HERE.
August 19
Summer is almost over. This weekend we felt a chill in the air and I am looking forward to the next season. I have yet another new garden and am anxious to fill it with my favorite perennials. Irises, lilies, daffodils, daisies, lupine and black-eyed susans are my usual fare. I might branch out a bit this year and try something more exotic. It will depend on what catches my eye.
I have been stocking up on all the new glass colors available. I dare say I have enough glass to last me my lifetime. So many great earthy shades have come out and I have great beady ideas racing around in my head. Fortunately school starts in less than two weeks so I can hunker down on the torch and be productive.
Look for regular weekly bead strand updates starting the first week of September. Not on my email list for the weekly announcement? sigh up HERE
July 10
I've managed to rise above the moving boxes! Oh I still have plenty of unpacking and piles to take care of but I am sleeping in my own bed and can find my underwear. Now if I can find all the parts to my torch and get a little me time I'm anxious to light the fire again. Enjoy your day.
June 29
Having a great time discovering the treats on Peaks Island. Be back soon!
May 29th
My creativity is in overdrive right now. It must know it is about to be pent up for a few weeks. I'm cranking out beads galore and will have plenty stored up for the end of July. Next weekend I will put about 10 strands up for a few days. I will close up shop a few days later and spend time organizing my glass for it's journey to my new home. I should be able to list auctions and post new strands July 12th.
May 17th
The countdown begins! I have 14 bead making days to get me through July. I will be doing the website update for the next two weeks and then taking a month off. I'm a bit nervous as I have listed beads for sale every single week from the first week I sold beads. But I will be without a studio for 5 weeks. Whatever will I do with myself? Perhaps finish a knitting project or two?
May 13th
Gorgeous day here in New York, but even more wonderful is we finally sold our house. I am moving to New Hampshire at the end of June. I will have a big, light filled studio and cannot wait to be back in New England. With all the moving I have done in the past 20 years I'm ready to stay put. Keep your fingers crossed my husband decides the same.
April 27, 2007
April 4, 2007 Some days you realize what a small world it is. Today I chatted with my accountant. He told me about his son and his flame work. I just have to share him with you. He makes well executed goblets, bud vases complete with flowers and perfume bottles. I'm sure you have all seen handmade glass goblets before. Often, while they are nicely done they leave something to be desired. They just look a bit more handmade than you would prefer. Seth's goblets are worth seeing. Finely crafted and color that makes a statement, he leaves you with an impression that raises the bar. I have my eye on the morning glory goblets. Here is his site. SETH PARKS Enjoy. March 26th
March 16th It was a long time coming this year but I finally got my snowed in day. I have soup simmering on the stove, cookies made and even took time to cuddle up on the couch and read for a bit. I know Spring will be right back next week. But for now, I'm basking in one real Winter day. March 1st. February 12th
It is a week of rushing around getting ready for our family vacation. I'm rather excited about skiing for 8 days. It seems as though we just had Christmas break, but I won't complain.
There will be beads listed on justbeads while I am gone if you are in need of a bead fix.
January 29th Of all my vices, probably the best friend I have is coffee. It gets me through a tough day like nothing else. Shopping for loved ones I found a new fix. Oh of course I bought some for gifts, but one must sample the goods, don't you think? Buzz Joy Coffee Roasting is a wonderful small company from Washington state. They actually roast your coffee to order. Talk about fresh and full of flavor! I had my first cup today. Click on the coffee to see for yourself and order some freshly roasted beans for one on your list.
December 3rd
I love to bake but find I'm a wipe my hands on my pants kind of girl. I refuse to wear a tacky looking kitchen apron, which means I often change before feeding the masses. My problem has been solved. I found these! I love them. So many aprons and not enough Women in my life. Here are my two favorites from Sommer Designs. Click on the picture to go to the site and order one for you! Oh, I mean someone on your gift list.
December 1st
I completely neglected you in November, didn't I? I must say, being the featured artist at Justbeads was exhausting but very profitable. Now I'm ready to get back to my old routine. But wait! The holidays have arrived and I have some serious shopping to do.
Late nights surfing the internet have taken care of my easy gifts. And I have been finding some rather interesting gifts as well. Don't we all have someone on our list we struggle with year after year? I stumbled on a few things I would like to share. Please click on the picture to go to the site.
What do you get the single girl with everything? Look at this great roadside emergency kit from Safety Girl. The perfect gift for today's Woman.
For the little girl who loves crayons I found this adorable crayon roll from Teacups and Tadpoles. I want one for me!
I am having so much fun searching for gifts on the internet. If you have any great finds, feel free to email them to me. I plan to keep adding as I find them.
Off to make the beads! Enjoy your day.

October 30th
Are you ready? The spookiest day of the year is tomorrow and marks the beginning of the Holiday Season at my house. I will be baking and decorating for weeks. I love it.
I should call it my feasting season. For some reason I let myself enjoy all the wonderful baked goods, candy and comfort food dinners that come my way. And then on New Year's Day I start a diet. One would think I would learn. But I don't. Willpower to the wind, I'm off to enjoy. Have a great Halloween.
October 21sth
Halloween is right around the corner. I'm feeling a bit slighted this year. My children decided they wanted store bought costumes. Even after a well thought out kitty costume was sketched and started by my daughter, the draw of a pretty witch costume at Marshalls was too much. Who am I to argue with sparkly sequins in turquoise and pink? As for my son, Darth Vader is definitely a better option with a Light Saber instead of the fireman with nothing more than a cool hat. I suppose I should be happy I don't have to toil over costumes, but we creative types like to create! Perhaps I'll just knit mittens instead.
October 5th
Ocotober is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year I have decided offer a day of my beadmaking towards the cause. Please check out the link below.

The school schedule is settling in and I'm torching a full week. I do love my schedule. I am very productive when I know what to expect and can plan my week. This is very good because I just got some exciting news. Justbeads auction site if going to feature me for the month of November. I must say, Justbeads is an auction site with people in mind. They do answer your emails when you need help and are always striving to get better. For a buyer, the shopping is a joy. Only beads are on the site and they are categorized properly. As a seller, the customer service is fantastic and I feel as if my beads are seen. Do check them out if you never have.
September 17th
I just love to see my beads in jewelry. I found a beautiful watch on White Tideline Designs made with my beads. Click HERE to see. One of my favorite things about Julie's site is her descriptions. Sit back with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the read.
September 9
Oh no! Big hair is making a comeback. I refuse to get a perm which means I will be hopelessly out of style.
Now, I do think it is fun to keep up with fashion and the trends tend to influence my designs. So perhaps this is why my beads are getting bigger?
Have a great day!
August 29
Summer is coming to a close. I have been goofing off the past two weeks and haven't made anything. I miss creating enough to actually work on knitting my husband's sweater. It has been in the works for about a year. But now I have the back, two sleeves and am about to start the front! Of course that may take a while since I am headed home on Thursday and resume my regular work schedule sometime next week. There are so many things I want to play with and look forward to a school year full of fabulous torch time.
August 15
I'm busy getting ready for a show on Saturday. If you are on Long Island stop by Hofstra University's student center Saturday afternoon. The Long Island Bead Societies Fabulous Annual Bead Bash is from 12 to 5 PM. Mention this and I will give you a free bead.
August 3
It is a running joke with my husband to talk about the weather. Every single time we would talk to his Mother she would want to know the weather. It didn't matter where we lived, she asked when we lived in Atlanta and in Germany. I can just see her. Calling from her little split level in Pennsylvania, twirling the cord around her finger, she would inquire about the weather. She really wanted to know. Of course her favorite part of the conversation was talking about her weather and who had it worse. We swore we wouldn't pass the time discussing the weather. So...
Do you have idea how hot it is on Long Island this week??? Fortunately a cold front is on it's way. Funny how 80 degree temperatures are going to feel glorious to one who craves 60's. C'mon, you are dying to tell me about your weather, aren't you? It's ok. You can email me and we'll compare notes.
July 31st
Discs! I admit it, I like trends. I like fashion, current colors and what is hot. Discs are hot. Today I am making discs. Discs in earthy browns, discs in desert hues and maybe some discs in bright transparants. The ideas seem to be endless. Off to jot some down and make a plan for the day. Have a great Monday.
July 27th
Whew! I can't even begin to describe the amount of information I have to process. My mind is racing and I have many new things to try. My most exciting purchase was a new torch. I tried it tonight and it was like a new car. So much power and heat I cannot wait to test it's limits. I'm going to be making some bigger beads and more free form focals. I'm rather excited about the prospect of spending quality time on each bead instead of the production work of sets. Of course there will still be plenty of sets. I do love the feeling of completion. There is something about placing hundreds of dots that soothes me. Oh! Wait until you see some of the new colors out there. I love this world of glass.
July 19th
I'm off to The Gathering. I can't wait to take my classes, see new techniques, new glass colors and tools. I am also very excited about quality girlfriend time. I'm sure to come back with a head full of new idea. Stay cool!
July 17th
A strange feeling it is to be alone in my house. I didn't wake to the pitter patter of little feet. It is so quiet! I can see talking to myself today just to hear my own voice. Shall I yell "Susan! Did you brush your teeth?" he-he I wouldn't want to lose my touch.
I'm busily getting ready for The Gathering. I have been making jewelry to match every outfit. I forgot how much I enjoy making jewelry. Although, the first wire wrapped bracelet is far from perfect. But heck, after a few hundred charms I'm as good as ever.
I do think I have to start making spacers for every set. Sorry, I had forgotten how handy they are.
July 16
I just kissed my sweet peas goodby. They are off to Maine for a few days and then Cape Cod. My sweet husband decided I could use a couple of days to get ready for the International Society of Glass Beadmakers convention. The idea sounded fabulous when he mentioned it. But right now I'm sad. I am not going to see those darling little faces for 8 days. All I can think is.... what will I do when they go to college?
Oh, right, they are teenagers first and by them I'll want them to go. Have a great day!
July 5th
It is so good to be connected!Staying in Disney’s Campground was luxurious when it comes to RV camping but their idea of internet connection leaves much to be desired. The Internet Café is not what I had expected.I had visions of daily afternoon coffee breaks while I caught up on my message boards and left you with my daily memoirs.
Humph! The Internet Café was actually a small room with stools and dial up cable connections.Having given up on dial up years ago I was not prepared.Having no free aol disc handy I was left high and dry.Except for one brief stolen coffee moment in a Starbucks I was internet free for a week. I’m just going to have to impart bits and pieces of my vacation experience in the weeks to come.
I will leave you with one parting virtual vacation postcard: Always flush an RV toilet before driving anywhere, no matter how short the trip.I’ll let you envision the front. J June 25
I drove the RV today.Wow, did I feel fat.It reminded me of when I first learned to drive and had to concentrate on staying in my lane. I’m not sure what I was thinking when I suggested I do a few back roads. There is almost no room for error and the idea of going into a ditch was scary.Add one anxious husband sitting next to me and I couldn’t help but flash back to Driver’s Ed.I am happy to say the control freak in me is perfectly fine with letting my husband do most of the driving on this trip. June 23
It is a strange sensation to be typing at a table in a moving RV.A complete living habitat, I can’t help but think of the little pretend homes under the table or in a tent my children love to create. It is cozy and there is a feeling of simplicity I enjoy.Of course I am still in my first few blissful hours imagining this is going to be the vacation my children always remember.I have yet to drive this beast. But for now, I have stars in my eyes and a refrigerator within reach. June 20
Today is the last full day of school for my children and they are beside themselves with excitement. We got up at 6 and they were ready for school at 7. An hour before we need to leave. They do make me laugh.
I'm beside myself too. We are going on a 12 day RV trip to Disney with many stops along the way. We leave Friday. The best part is the kids don't know. They think we are going to Maine. I can't wait to see their excitement when they find out the truth. I'm thinking just about the point where we are no longer heading to Maine my son will notice and wonder why we are driving to New Jersey. The look on his face when we pull into the RV lot will be priceless.
Only three more days to get my ducks in a row. I had better get to it. Enjoy your day!
June 19
Today is all about me. I'm getting my nails done, my hair colored and waxing my legs. You know what is amazing? Before children I never left personal pampering all for one day. I just did it when it was time. Now it seems I have to book a day and dedicate it to me. My life is about taking care of everyone else and a day just for me feels quite special. Have you taken care of you lately? Why don't you join me today and let it be a day all about you.
Susan
June 17 You found me! I am quite excited about my new site. Did you see you can now purchase beads right here, right now and even use your credit card? I promise to keep the beads coming and thank you for stopping by.
